How Spain got there
Seven beats, from the group stage to the 106th minute.
- 1
The run
Eight games, one goal conceded
Spain arrived at the final having been scored against once in the entire tournament. The defence, not the flair, is what got them there.
- 2
Last 16 and quarters
Portugal, then Belgium
Two knockout ties against sides who had beaten them in qualifying cycles before. Both went Spain's way without the shootout everyone expected.
- 3
Semi-final
France 0-2
The tie most people had marked as the real final. Spain settled it inside ninety minutes and never trailed.
- 4
56'
Argentina go down to ten
Enzo Fernandez picks up a second yellow. Argentina play the whole of extra time a man short, and the game turns from a contest into a siege.
- 5
90 minutes
20 shots, no goal
Spain outshot Argentina 20 to 3 and still could not score. Emiliano Martinez kept the final goalless into extra time almost single-handedly.
- 6
106'
Ferran Torres, off the bench
A substitute finds the top of the net past Martinez. Only the second substitute in history to score the winner in a World Cup final.
- 7
Full time
A second star, sixteen years on
Spain's second world title and their first since 2010. Lamine Yamal takes the Golden Ball at 19, the first teenager to win a European Championship and a World Cup.

Football 2026 - Complete Guide
The 2026 Football 2026 is the largest in history, hosted across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026. For the first time ever, 48 national teams compete across 104 matches - 72 group-stage fixtures followed by a knockout bracket from the Round of 32 through to the Final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. This expansion makes the 2026 tournament the first to feature three host nations and the most geographically distributed the tournament ever staged.
Host Cities - United States
Eleven U.S. cities host matches: New York/New Jersey (Final), Los Angeles (3rd Place), Dallas, San Francisco Bay Area, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, and Kansas City. The MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey holds the Final on July 19, 2026.
Host Cities - Canada and Mexico
Canada hosts at Vancouver (BC Place) and Toronto (BMO Field). Mexico hosts in Mexico City (Estadio Azteca), Guadalajara (Estadio Akron), and Monterrey (Estadio BBVA) - making Estadio Azteca the first venue to host the tournament matches in three separate tournaments (1970, 1986, 2026).
Official Hospitality - On Location
On Location is the official exclusive hospitality provider for Football 2026. Packages include Single Match hospitality from $1,400 per person, Venue Series packages from $8,275 per person, Follow My Team bundles tracking one national team through the group stage, and fully private suite experiences with custom pricing.
Tournament Format
Forty-eight teams are divided into 12 groups of 4. The top two teams from each group plus the eight best third-place finishers advance to the Round of 32 - a new knockout stage that replaces the traditional Round of 16 format from previous tournaments. From there: Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Third Place match, and the Final.
Group Stage Dates
The group stage runs from June 11 through July 2, 2026. Matches begin with the opener in Mexico City on June 11 and culminate with the final group-stage fixtures on July 2. Up to 4 matches are played simultaneously across different host cities during peak group-stage windows, requiring careful planning for multi-city travel.
Travel and Logistics
With 16 host cities across three countries and four time zones, travel planning is the defining logistical challenge of the 2026 tournament. Premium packages combine air travel, ground transfers, hotel accommodation near stadiums, and priority match-day entry. Early booking is essential - host city hotel inventory near top venues is extremely limited.
aicente's Football 2026 hospitality platform provides official On Location package access alongside premium transportation through Action Limo, a verified black car and limo service with corporate account capabilities for multi-match tour groups. Submit a booking inquiry above to receive package availability and pricing for your preferred matches and cities.
