How to retarget somebody on what they clicked

Somebody clicked something specific. Wait a little, then send the offer that matches, and move them to a list for that interest.

Before you start

A click on a specific link is the cheapest intent signal you will ever get, because they gave it without filling anything in. The trick is to act on it slowly: an email about the page they are currently reading is unnerving, and one two days later is helpful.

You will need: the url to watch, a list for that interest, one campaign.

How to set it up

  1. 1Pick one link that indicates buying intent: a pricing page, a particular product.
  2. 2Choose the Retarget template and put that URL in the trigger.
  3. 3Open the list step and choose the list for that interest.
  4. 4Leave the wait at two days.
  5. 5Assign the offer campaign.
  6. 6Activate.

What goes wrong

  • Watching every link in every campaign. You end up with forty lists that mean nothing and a flow that fires constantly.
  • An empty list step. The flow runs, the step does nothing, and you have no segment at the end of it.
